Tarureka Estate in Featherston has to be one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph in the Wairarapa. The barn is just epic! So I was really happy when Jane and Greg asked me to photograph their mid-winter wedding there this August. Both Jane and Greg got ready at ‘The Grove’ on the outskirts of Featherston, a beautiful colonial villa nestled in an Olive Grove – such a stunning location for photos, even when the weather is a little damp! The plus side of a little drizzle on the day was very soft light and beautiful colour in the olive grove where we got some stunning shots. I always have a boot full of umbrellas on standby but we didn’t have to use them much! Both Jane and Greg were keen to spend as much time with their wedding guests as possible and for this reason we did the Bridal shoot before the ceremony, meaning that once they arrived at Tarureka they didn’t leave till nights end! As a wedding photographer I quite enjoy this break with tradition, it makes things very relaxed during the shoot and time is much less of an issue!
The wedding ceremony took place in the Barn at Tarureka Estate. It was a beautiful ceremony with touching vows and readings, then it was time to party! Jane and Greg did a great job keeping the guests entertained with a quiz, an MC who to me will always be T-Radar (you will spot him in the photos!) and lots of fun throughout the evening. Greg even serenaded Jane with a few of his friends – that’s definitely how to set the bar very high for the rest of us Greg!
Thanks so much for having me guys!!!
